The Casteggio Library was founded in 1975 (Municipal Council Resolution No. 94) and named after the Casteggio intellectual Ernestina Pelizza Marangoni, who was also known for her friendship, at a young age, with Albert Einstein.

The library has a holdings of about 15,000 volumes; the Sernagiotto and Torlaschi library collections are of considerable value.

The Cinquecentine of the Sernagiotto Fund

The Sernagiotto Fund is a donation of five thousand volumes made to the Casteggio Library by the bibliophile Raffaello Sernagiotto, among which 22 sixteenth-century books are noteworthy, as well as around 400 antique books (chronologically between 1450 and 1830).

In the online catalogue, the location is preceded by an S. Part of the collection is closed-shelf (the most valuable books), of which only consultation on the premises is permitted, subject to a written and justified request.
The modern section is open-shelved.
